At home in the forest on Moorang-Moobar Country

Born in Australia and based on Moorang-Moobar / Bundjalung Country in the Northern Rivers region of NSW, Natalie Wilkin is a multidisciplinary artist known for her photographic, film, and installation work. Guided by the natural world, her practice delves into the liminal spaces between the physical and metaphysical realms, offering moments of introspective reflection and renewal. Through a research-driven process, she explores the complexities of emotional and physical human experience juxtaposed with the expansive landscapes of dreams, spirit, and the subconscious.

Natalie has exhibited in solo and group shows across America and Australia. Her career includes a three-year residency at Mildred’s Lane, an art project led by J. Morgan Puett and Mark Dion. During this residency, her work was showcased in major exhibitions at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) and the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York City, and she continues to contribute to this artist-run project.

In 2022, she completed an alumni year at the Byron School and is currently pursuing a Master of Arts with a research focus on Decolonial Praxis. Her diverse background also includes costume production and a Bachelor of Design with a focus on the built environment from the Queensland College of Art. This unique skill set informs the multifaceted approach she applies to her work.

Her life and artistic practice are dedicated to fostering reciprocity with her community and home in the rainforest on Moorang-Moobar Country and continue to be a journey of discovering and articulating the delicate interplay between the visible and hidden forces of the world.
